Sara Shayesteh

Sara Shayesteh lived in the port city of Minab in Iran's southern Hormozgan province. At five years old, she was not yet in formal primary school; her presence at the Shajareh Tayyebeh school that morning indicated she was likely attending a pre-school program or was there with an older family member.

On the morning of February 28, 2026, the Shajareh Tayyebeh school in Minab was struck by at least one missile. The projectile hit the building directly, causing a partial collapse of the structure. Sara Shayesteh was among those killed instantly in the blast and debris.

The strike occurred during a period of heightened regional military activity in early 2026. Multiple armed groups and state actors were engaged in cross-border exchanges. The school was located in a civilian area with no reported military installations in its immediate vicinity.
