Their Story
LCPL Reed, Aaron Howard, 21 years old, grew up in ROSS, OH and served as Reserve in the MARINE CORPS with L CO, 3D BN, 25TH MAR, (RCT-2, 2D MAR DIV), 4TH MAR DIV, COLUMBUS, OH during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
He did not survive OIF. The MARINE CORPS recorded his death on August 3, 2005 in BARWANAH, IRAQ, from HOSTILE.
The years 2005?2007 were OIF's deadliest. Sectarian violence surged after the 2006 bombing of the al-Askari shrine in Samarra. American troops were caught between militias, insurgents, and a government that barely functioned.
The members of L CO, 3D BN, 25TH MAR, (RCT-2, 2D MAR DIV), 4TH MAR DIV, COLUMBUS, OH who served alongside him carry his memory. His record in DCAS documents his service and sacrifice during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
