Their Story
Daegan William-Tyeler Page was a 23-year-old Marine from Omaha, Nebraska. He served as a Corporal with the 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, part of the Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force based at Camp Pendleton, California.
On August 26, 2021, Page was among the U.S. service members providing security at the Abbey Gate of Hamid Karzai International Airport during the evacuation of civilians from Afghanistan. The Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISIS-K) claimed responsibility.
The attack occurred during Operation Freedom's Sentinel, the U.S. military mission in Afghanistan that succeeded Operation Enduring Freedom in 2015. The mission was concluding with the final withdrawal of U.S. forces, which was scheduled to be completed by August 31, 2021.
Page's body was returned to the United States. He was posthumously promoted to the rank of Corporal. A memorial service was held in Omaha, where he was remembered by family and fellow Marines as a dedicated serviceman who enjoyed hunting and outdoor activities.
Page is memorialized on the Afghanistan War Memorial at the University of Nebraska Omaha. His name is also inscribed on the National 9/11 Pentagon Memorial, which honors those killed in the 2021 attack.
