Their Story
Olguin, Randell was 24 and from RALLS, TX when he joined the Active Duty, ARMY, C CO, 1 SQDN, 2 SCR (OPCON TO 2 BCT, 82 ABN) (TASK ORG TO 1 CD) as SGT. Operation Iraqi Freedom would take his life.
He did not survive OIF. The ARMY recorded his death on September 30, 2007 in BAGHDAD, IRAQ, from HOSTILE.
The years 2005?2007 were OIF's deadliest. Sectarian violence surged after the 2006 bombing of the al-Askari shrine in Samarra. American troops were caught between militias, insurgents, and a government that barely functioned.
The members of C CO, 1 SQDN, 2 SCR (OPCON TO 2 BCT, 82 ABN) (TASK ORG TO 1 CD) who served alongside him carry his memory. His record in DCAS documents his service and sacrifice during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
