Moore, Antonio Devante-isaac

Antonio Devante-Isaac Moore was a 22-year-old Specialist in the U.S. Army Reserve. He was assigned to the 346th Engineer Company, 363rd Engineer Battalion, 411th Engineer Brigade, based in Knightdale, North Carolina, and was a native of Wilmington, North Carolina.

Moore died on January 24, 2020, in Green Village, Syria, a location housing U.S. and coalition forces in the country's east. According to the U.S. Department of Defense, his death was the result of a vehicle rollover accident during route clearing operations. He was the only casualty from the incident.

Moore was deployed in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, the U.S.-led military intervention against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). His death occurred after the territorial defeat of the ISIS caliphate in 2019, as coalition forces shifted to stabilization and counter-insurgency missions aimed at preventing a resurgence of the militant group.

Following his death, the 411th Engineer Brigade stated that Moore was 'a valued member of our team' and that his loss was felt across the formation. His body was returned to the United States, and he was posthumously awarded the Army Commendation Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal.

Moore is memorialized on the Operation Inherent Resolve casualty list maintained by the U.S. Department of Defense. He was one of 107 American service members who died during the operation as of early 2020.
