Alexander Wayne Missildine was a 20-year-old soldier from Tyler, Texas. He served on active duty in the U.S. Army as a member of Company G, 710th Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, based out of Fort Polk, Louisiana.

Specialist Missildine died on October 1, 2017, in Salah ad-Din Province, Iraq. According to the U.S. Department of Defense, his death was the result of a hostile incident. No further operational details regarding the specific event were publicly released by the military.

Missildine's death occurred during Operation Inherent Resolve, the U.S.-led coalition mission against the Islamic State (ISIL) in Iraq and Syria.
