Private First Class Joshua Mikeasky was from Johnstown, Pennsylvania. He served with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 4th Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, part of the 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team based at Fort Drum, New York.
Mikeasky died on December 13, 2018, from wounds sustained in a combat-related incident in Bagram, Afghanistan. The Department of Defense stated he was killed in action, though it did not release specific details of the engagement.
His death occurred during Operation Freedom's Sentinel, the U.S. military mission that succeeded Operation Enduring Freedom in 2015.
