Mercado, Gil was 25 and from PATERSON, NJ when he joined the Active Duty, ARMY, HHC, 3D BATTALION, 187TH INFANTRY, FORT CAMPBELL, KENTUCKY as SPC. Operation Iraqi Freedom would take his life.

He did not survive OIF. The ARMY recorded his death on April 13, 2003 in Iraq.
