SPC Holley, Matthew John, 21 years old, grew up in SAN DIEGO, CA and served as Active Duty in the ARMY with HHB, 1ST BATTALION, 320TH FIELD ARTILLERY (TF BAGHDAD), FORT CAMPBELL, KY during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
He did not survive OIF. The ARMY recorded his death on November 15, 2005 in TAJI, IRAQ, from HOSTILE.
Operation Iraqi Freedom began March 19, 2003 with the US-led invasion. The stated justification ? weapons of mass destruction ? was never found. Seven years of occupation, insurgency, and sectarian war followed, killing 4,418 Americans and an estimated 200,000 Iraqi civilians.
