Arina Arab-Kish, 8, was a schoolgirl killed when US missiles struck the Shajareh Tayyebeh primary school in Minab, Hormozgan province, on 28 February 2026.

Their Story

Arina Arab-Kish was an 8-year-old girl attending the Shajareh Tayyebeh (The Good Tree) primary school in Minab, Hormozgan province, southern Iran. She was killed on 28 February 2026 when US missiles destroyed the school during the opening hours of the US-Israeli military offensive against Iran.

Her name appears on the verified list of 61 victims published by Middle East Eye on 4 March 2026, sourced from Iran's Gymnastics Federation, a handwritten casualty list, and the Tasnim news agency. She was among the majority of victims who were schoolgirls aged between 7 and 12.

The school was struck three times. According to Red Crescent medics who responded to the scene, the second impact targeted the school's prayer room where the principal had moved students after the first strike. Medics described the scene as unrecognisable, with severe fragmentation injuries among the victims. At least 165 people were killed in total; as of 5 March 2026 the Iranian Ministry of Education stated that 69 schoolgirls remained unidentified and were undergoing DNA testing.

Multiple independent investigations concluded the US military was most likely responsible. Human Rights Watch called for a full investigation as a potential war crime.
