Amirghasem Zaeri was a child from Minab, a city in Iran's southern Hormozgan province. He was seven years old.
On the morning of February 28, 2026, a missile struck the Shajareh Tayyebeh school building in Minab. Amirghasem Zaeri was killed in the strike. At least four other children from the extended Zaeri family were also documented among the dead: Ali Asghar Zaeri, eight; Mohammad-Sadra Zarei, seven; Mohammad-Hossein Zarei, six; and Fatemeh Zarei, five. Initial reports indicated the attack killed at least nine people, most of them children.
The strike occurred during a period of heightened regional military activity in early 2026. The incident was part of a series of reported cross-border attacks and retaliations involving Iran and other state actors. The Iranian government publicly attributed the strike to a foreign military.
