Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Emad Al-Sharrah was a Kuwaiti officer with the General Directorate of Land Border Security. He was killed in the line of duty at dawn on 2 March 2026, during Iranian retaliatory strikes across Kuwait, in the second day of the US-Israel?Iran war.
Their Story
Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Emad Al-Sharrah served as an officer with the General Directorate of Land Border Security, a unit under Kuwait's Ministry of Interior. He was killed at dawn on Sunday, 2 March 2026, while performing his national security duties amid a sustained campaign of Iranian missile and drone strikes against Kuwait.
Kuwait's Ministry of Interior announced his death in a statement carried by the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), identifying him by name and rank alongside his colleague Major Fahd Abdulaziz Al-Mujammad. The ministry "expressed its profound grief and sorrow" over both deaths, describing the men as having fallen "while performing their national duty."
The ministry did not specify the exact location or operational circumstances of the incident, but it occurred during the same period when Iranian strikes targeted Kuwait International Airport, Ali Al Salem Air Base, Camp Buehring, and other sites across the country. Kuwait's Defence Ministry separately reported that its air defence systems had been intercepting ongoing waves of Iranian missiles and drones.
Kuwait's Ministry of Foreign Affairs later confirmed in a statement on X that among the casualties of the conflict were a young girl (Elna Abdullah Hussein Nia), two members of the armed forces, and two border guards ? confirming that the border guard deaths were officially separated from any military service fatalities.
Lt. Col. Al-Sharrah was one of four Kuwaiti security and emergency personnel confirmed killed in the line of duty during the conflict, alongside Maj. Al-Mujammad (border security) and two unnamed Kuwait Fire Force officers killed while fighting fires caused by the drone strikes.
