Their Story
LCPL Adle, Patrick Ryan, 21 years old, grew up in BEL AIR, MD and served as Reserve in the MARINE CORPS with DET 3, ENGINEER SUPPORT CO, 6TH ESB, (I MEF), 4TH FSSG, FOLSOM, PA during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Killed on June 29, 2004 in CAMP CUERVO, IRAQ ? HOSTILE ?, Adle, Patrick Ryan was one of the 4418 Americans the country lost in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
In the first year of occupation, military victory gave way to an insurgency the US hadn't planned for. Disbanding the Iraqi army created a vacuum. Armed groups filled it immediately.
The MARINE CORPS classified his death as "HOSTILE" ? a category that matters to the families who must make sense of it. His name is documented in the Defense Casualty Analysis System at https://dcas.dmdc.osd.mil/dcas/app/conflictCasualties/oif.
