Beelal BUK Book 2 Complete Hausa Novel English Translation

Since they arrived at the motor park in Lagos, Idrisu had been harassing Beelal, complaining that he was not fast at all.

He did not even consider the boy’s condition or the disability he lived with. He simply kept dragging his hand roughly as they pushed through the crowd inside the busy motor park.

No one paid attention to them. Everyone was busy with his own affairs.

As for Beelal, tears kept running down his face. On top of that, he was suffering from terrible hunger.

Eventually, Idrisu found a motorcycle. Beelal climbed on first, then Idrisu sat behind him. They rode until they reached the neighborhood where Idrisu lived.

The rider dropped them in front of a shop nearby. Idrisu brought out money and paid him.

Idrisu’s Cruel Warning

Idrisu looked at Beelal and said harshly, “You, crippled cat, look at where I sleep. I do not stay here for free. I pay. Everything you see in Lagos costs money. It is not like the village we left, where someone can give out a shop for people to sleep in as charity, or even allow people to live in a house for free.”

Beelal began weakly, “Alright, Baba, I will…”

Idrisu cut him off sharply.

“Do not ever call me that name again. I left you with your mother, Fatima, long ago. So we will live here only as people helping each other. If you help yourself and find money properly, you will get food. But if you do not bring anything, then know that you will sleep hungry.”

Tears had already started falling from Beelal’s eyes before he could even open his mouth.

He now saw the kind of suffering he would face in the city of Lagos.

He had been separated from his mother, the woman who loved and cared for him. No matter how difficult life became, she always struggled to find something for him to eat. Even if she herself did not get food, she preferred that he should eat, and his eating made her happy.

Now he had been brought to a place where he knew no one except the man who brought him, a man who despised him and did not even want him to call him father because of the disability Allah created him with.

Idrisu continued, “Will you look for money or not? Some people say struggling does not always bring success, but I reject that. If a person works hard, he must find something. And stop shedding those fake tears for me. I am helping you. Do not make people think I stole you.”

He looked at Beelal with contempt and added, “Besides, if not begging, what else suits someone like you?”

Beelal wiped his tears with his hand, even though the crying had not stopped.

He lowered his head, feeling pain deep in his heart. He hated being mocked because of his disability. Even though he knew he had a physical challenge, he felt deeply wounded whenever people used it to humiliate him.

He felt as if people forgot that Allah creates a person however He wills and at the time He wills.

Inside the Shop

Idrisu said, “Move. Let us go. You have heard what I said. If you refuse, your body will suffer for it. As you can see, nothing touches me.”

He moved ahead toward the shop, and Beelal followed slowly behind him with sadness in his heart. His mind was full of thoughts of his mother and her sincere care for him.

Truly, whatever a mother does for a child remains firmly in that child’s memory, whether good or bad.

May Allah give us the ability to raise our children well, just as He has placed that responsibility upon us. Ameen.

When they reached the shop, Idrisu pushed the half-closed door open.

A voice shouted from inside, “Which useless person is pushing the door without permission?”

The voice followed with insults.

Idrisu replied angrily, “It is me. Do not provoke me now, or we will both lose control.”

He pushed the curtain aside and entered without greeting.

“Ah, so it is you,” said Imran, who was lying on a mattress and smoking.

Idrisu replied, “What kind of tone is that? Are you trying to disrespect me?”

Imran said, “I thought it was someone else. If I had known it was you, I would not have spoken like that.”

Idrisu said, “That is your business. So what is happening?”

Imran replied, “Leave it, Baba. By Allah, things are completely scattered. There is no easy way to get money now. Even the motorcycle I was riding, I returned it to the owner. I would spend the whole day moving around and still not get passengers. People kept saying I looked intoxicated.”

Idrisu said, “They were right.”

Imran frowned. “So that is what you will say?”

Idrisu replied, “Of course. How do you expect to be under the influence and still get passengers? Honestly, who will agree to sit behind someone who looks unstable? Maybe you even smell of alcohol.”

Imran said, “Shut your mouth. We are both the same. Which one of us is better? Even you smell of alcohol too.”

He slapped Idrisu heavily on the back.

A Dangerous Plan

Idrisu said, “Calm down. I have brought us a way to make money easily. The truth is not that we never get money. The money only finishes on intoxicants and chasing women. But now, I have brought something I think we can use to start a new business…”

Imran interrupted him quickly.

“Shut your mouth. I swear, no matter how reckless I am, I have not reached that level.”

Idrisu looked at him. “What do you mean? You have a problem. At least allow me to finish speaking before you bury me.”

Imran said, “Haba, Idrisu. After travelling home to meet that exhausted wife of yours, or after thinking you would get the money her elder sister supposedly brought her, you returned with illegal powder and want us to start selling it? Do you want the authorities to catch us and destroy us?”

Idrisu burst into loud laughter, pointing at Imran with his finger.
