Nayi Nadama Book 1 Complete Hausa Novel
Nayi Nadama Book 1 Complete Hausa Novel continues with Aisha still lying comfortably in bed as though nobody was waiting for her.
Amira hurried into the room and struck her.
“Aisha, get up! I swear Hamma Yusuf has already come out,” she warned.
Aisha’s eyes immediately flew open. She jumped from the bed and began removing her sleeping clothes while her entire body trembled.
As she rushed into the bathroom, she cried, “I am in serious trouble! Amira, please bring out my clothes, veil and shoes. Today, I have encountered that wicked man, and he has finally found an excuse to torment me.”
Aisha Rushes to Prepare for the Journey
After quickly preparing herself, Aisha emerged looking remarkably beautiful. She wore a long gown that fitted her perfectly.
She picked up her hair ribbon and headscarf and rushed towards the living room. Her thoughts were completely focused on Ahmad, which prevented her from noticing that Yusuf was also standing there.
As soon as she reached Ahmad, she handed him the ribbon and turned her back towards him.
“Brother Ahmad, please tie my hair. Here are my earrings too—help me put them on quickly. You know they are about to start shouting at me,” she pleaded.
Ahmad accepted the ribbon with a smile. He moved closer and gently gathered the long hair resting across her shoulders.
Rabi’u watched them with frustration.
“I swear, you should be ashamed of yourself. You are a woman, yet men are always the ones preparing and dressing you,” he complained.
Aisha responded sharply.
“Did I ask you to do it for me?”
Yusuf’s Slap Lands on Ahmad
Yusuf was standing nearby, and anger had already overwhelmed him. Aisha had delayed everyone and still came out speaking disrespectfully.
Furious, Yusuf raised his open hand to slap her.
Ahmad quickly pulled Aisha towards himself and moved his face into the path of Yusuf’s hand.
The powerful slap landed directly on Ahmad’s soft cheek.
Adam immediately turned after hearing the sound.
“May Allah protect us! Are you all right?” he asked.
Yusuf was enraged.
“I swear that girl will receive a terrible beating today! Everyone has been waiting for her,” he declared.
He looked at Ahmad’s face. The cheek had turned bright red, and because Ahmad was fair-skinned, the marks of Yusuf’s fingers were clearly visible.
Aisha had already escaped to Nenne’s side.
Yusuf looked at her with intense hatred. He shook his head, bit his lower lip and stormed out of the room.
Amira turned towards Aisha.
“It is over for you now. I swear you will have less favour with Hamma Yusuf than even sour fura. You caused him to slap Brother Ahmad. You are in serious trouble,” she warned.
Tears gathered in Aisha’s eyes.
“Ummi, please apologise to him for me,” she begged.
Usman glared at her.
“I swear he should beat you, you hypocrite. You are not afraid of anybody. How long have we been waiting for you? You behave as though you are everyone’s mother,” he scolded.
Nenne intervened.
“Remain quiet. He will not beat you,” she assured Aisha.
Baba Bello stood.
“Everyone should get up. Let us leave,” he ordered.
The Family Begins Its Journey
Three vehicles were waiting inside the compound.
Usman drove the first vehicle. Baba Bello and Nenne sat inside, while Abdul occupied the seat beside him.
Rabi’u drove the second car. Abba and Ummi sat behind him, while Aunty Sadiya sat in the front passenger seat.
Yusuf occupied the driver’s seat of the third vehicle. Adam sat beside him, while Amira and Aisha sat behind them.
Ahmad sat between the two girls, and the terrified Aisha wrapped her arm tightly around him.
The first two cars left the compound, but nearly twenty minutes later, Yusuf had still not started driving. He remained seated and repeatedly pressed buttons on his laptop as though nobody was waiting.
Adam looked at him impatiently.
“Come on, Biyaye. We are supposed to be travelling, yet you are still sitting here. We should leave now,” he urged.
Yusuf ignored him. He merely adjusted his sitting position and leaned against the seat.
Ahmad smiled gently and used his calmest voice.
“We apologise, my elder brother. Please forgive us and let us leave. You know Abba will be waiting for our arrival,” he pleaded.
Yusuf turned, briefly looked at him and then faced forward again.
Rashida Calls Yusuf
Yusuf’s phone began ringing. He opened the car door, stepped outside and walked beneath a mango tree.
Several chairs had been arranged there for casual conversations, and he sat on one of them before answering the call.
His face remained stern.
“Rashida, I do not like trouble. You became impatient. I have been overwhelmed with work and planned to call you when I found time,” he explained.
Rashida responded carefully because she feared his harsh temperament, but her affection for him was unmistakable.
“Yusuf, how many days has it been since we last spoke? You never call me unless I call you first. An entire Eid celebration could pass without you calling to greet me,” she complained.
Yusuf had already become tired of her complaints and endless talking.
“Enough. That is enough. Have we not greeted each other now? I have something important to do,” he replied.
“Please do not end the call, Yusuf. When are you coming?” she asked hurriedly.
“Next year,” he answered briefly before ending the call.
Rashida stared sadly at her phone.
“O Allah, give me Yusuf’s heart and turn his attention towards me. Or reduce the love I feel for him,” she prayed aloud.
Rashida was from Kano and had studied with Yusuf and the others in India. Allah had tested her with a powerful love for him, but Yusuf’s difficult personality, stubbornness and rigid opinions prevented him from paying attention to any woman.
Ahmad Confronts Yusuf About the Slap
Ahmad calmly walked over and sat beside Yusuf.
“Biyaye,” he called softly.
Yusuf fixed his eyes on Ahmad’s face. He raised a hand and gently touched the cheek he had slapped.
“Biyaye, why did you make my hand strike your face? You know how valuable your face is to me, yet you allowed me to hurt myself emotionally.”
He continued touching Ahmad’s cheek.
“I hate anything that harms your body or health. I swear I now feel intense hatred towards her because she caused me to strike my brother with my own hand.”
Ahmad’s expression softened. He released a sigh and touched his cheek.
“Biyaye, the pain of your slap remained on my skin. It never entered my heart,” he said sincerely.
“No matter what you do to me or how painful it may be, I will never feel anger towards you. However, if that slap had landed on my Aisha’s face, my heart would have become poisoned with pain.”
Ahmad placed a hand on Yusuf’s shoulder.
“You support me in loving everything I value in this world. Why can you not support me in loving my Aisha?”
He looked deeply into Yusuf’s eyes.
“Why do our hearts disagree whenever it concerns her? Every breath I take carries the weight of my love for Aisha, while every breath you take carries your hatred for her. Why?”
Yusuf stared at him. His eyes had become red, although he did not realise it.
Instead of reducing his anger, Ahmad’s words only increased his hatred for Aisha.
Yusuf Punishes Aisha
Yusuf suddenly stood and rushed towards the car.
He opened the rear door, dragged Aisha outside and slapped her across the face.
She cried from the pain and held her cheek. Then she ran into Ahmad’s arms.
“Hamma Yusuf, please forgive me. I swear I will never do it again,” she pleaded.
Amira had already pressed herself against the car window in fear.
Ahmad spoke calmly.
“Thank you, Biyaye. Now that you have done what your heart wanted, let us leave.”
He guided Aisha back inside the car, and they resumed their seats.
Yusuf angrily entered the driver’s seat and drove away at high speed.
The Family Arrives in Mambilla
When they arrived in Mambilla, Baba Bello and the others had also reached the family home.
The living room was crowded with Bappa Yaya’s descendants.
After exchanging greetings, Yusuf only greeted the senior family members, including Baba Amadu. He then moved to one side, sat down and opened his laptop.
Sadiq came and sat beside him so they could look at the laptop together. Yusuf genuinely loved the boy, although he did not speak to him much.
Abba looked at Ahmad, who was sitting nearby.
“Ahmad, what delayed you?” he asked.
Ahmad smiled.
“Nothing serious, Abba. We simply travelled slowly,” he answered.
Abba nodded.
“That was wise,” he replied.
Bappa Yaya Teases Yusuf
Bappa Yaya looked at Yusuf’s stern face.
“Dudabe, have you still not returned to school?” he asked.
Yusuf raised his head and glared at him because there was nothing he hated more than Bappa Yaya calling him Dudabe.
Bappa Yaya turned towards Ahmad.
“Has their holiday still not ended?” he asked.
“Yes, there is still some time remaining,” Ahmad answered.
Adam interrupted.
“Why are you so concerned about when he will return? Is he sitting on top of you?”
Baba Bello looked at Adam.
“That is enough, Adam. Whenever you come here, you immediately start making jokes and causing trouble,” he warned.
Innayi Brings Yusuf Tea
Innayi stood and announced, “I know Yusuf loves tea. Let me bring some for him.”
She returned with a flask and cup and placed them before him.
“Here is your tea. I know how much you enjoy it, like an Arab,” she teased.
Yusuf looked at her and moved his lips slightly.
“I will drink it later,” he murmured.
Only Sadiq, who had been carefully watching Yusuf’s mouth, understood what he said.
Innayi pressed her lips together.
“That is fine. Yusuf is always good at dismissing and discouraging people,” she complained.
Bappa Yaya called, “Dudabe!”
Yusuf neither answered nor looked in his direction.
Bappa Yaya called him three times before laughing.
“Poor Dudabe. We love you so much that we could die for you, yet you dislike us as though you could die from seeing us,” he joked.
Everyone laughed.
Adam laughed so hard that he clapped his hands.
“Excellent, Bappa Yaya! What about those of us you do not love? Will you throw us into the rubbish?” he asked.
The family continued laughing and exchanging affectionate jokes.
Family Affection in Nayi Nadama Book 1 Complete Hausa Novel
When Abubakar arrived, he gently placed Aisha on a chair and kissed her forehead.
Nenne watched them lovingly and smiled.
“Abubakar, anyone watching you would think she was the only person you missed,” she teased.
Abubakar laughed, walked towards Baba Bello and respectfully greeted him. He also greeted Abba and Ummi.
Ummi felt delighted by the way Abubakar treated his younger siblings like close friends and playmates.
However, she felt deep pain whenever she remembered how Yusuf frightened and intimidated them. He rarely sat with his siblings or shared friendly conversations with them, and she disliked that behaviour because he was their eldest brother.
Aisha remained close to Abubakar while Ahmad sat beside them. They talked and laughed happily.
Nenne looked at Amira.
“You attended to him when he arrived, but now you are sitting here talking without bringing him food,” she complained.
Amira immediately stood and went to collect food.
Yusuf Dislikes Their Closeness
Yusuf sat nearby, silently wondering what Ahmad and Abubakar gained from allowing younger girls to cling to them.
They were not even worried that the girls might lose respect for them.
He watched Abubakar continue comforting and pampering Aisha. The entire scene disgusted him.
Their endless talking also irritated him. They sounded like parrots whose mouths never became tired.
Unable to tolerate the noise, Yusuf stood and prepared to leave.
At that moment, Abubakar gently moved Aisha away from his body.
“Auta, you have still not brought me water,” he reminded her.
Aisha stood and suddenly found herself face-to-face with the person she feared most.
Her entire body began trembling. Without realising what she was saying, she recited:
“Indeed, we belong to Allah, and to Him we shall return. O Allah, reward me in this calamity and replace it with something better.”
Yusuf stared at her, wondering what she meant. Was she describing him as a disaster?
Before he could complete the thought, Aisha turned and ran towards their room.
Her escape confirmed that she had been referring to him.
Yusuf frowned, shook his head, bit his lower lip and left.
The others continued their conversation.
Ahmad understood what had happened. He wondered how two people born to the same parents could never remain peacefully together. Yusuf and Aisha were like fire and dry cotton.
Aisha Denies Knowing Yusuf
Aisha later walked towards her grandmother’s house. The journey was exhausting because the house was far away, but if she failed to visit, Grandma would complain endlessly.
As Aisha approached the main gate, she saw two young men who appeared to be around Ahmad’s age.
She kept her head lowered and continued walking.
One of the men quickly called her.
“Excellent, our little sister!”
Aisha looked at him calmly, approached and greeted them. They answered cheerfully.
“When you enter the house, please tell your brother Yusuf to come outside so that we can leave,” one of them requested.
Aisha looked at them with displeasure.
“I do not have a brother with that name. I do not know him,” she replied.
She tried to continue walking.
The two men looked at each other in surprise.
“Are you not a daughter of this family?” they asked together.
“Yes,” she answered.
“And you are saying you do not know Yusuf?”
Aisha rolled her eyes.
“Yes. My only elder brothers are Ahmad and Adam, and neither of them is here,” she replied.
She turned to leave but suddenly widened her eyes in terror. Yusuf was standing directly behind her.
Aisha quickly turned and tried to return in the direction from which she had come.
“Stop there!” Yusuf thundered.
She froze instantly.
“Turn around and enter the house. All you know how to do is wander unnecessarily. Must I catch you before you behave?” he demanded.
Yusuf shook his head and entered the waiting vehicle while Aisha hurried inside the compound.
Ahmad Declares His Love for Aisha
After the Isha prayer, Ahmad returned home with Abba.
He carried Abba’s bag inside before entering the living room, where he found Aisha sitting with Ummi and Nenne.
Ahmad looked at Aisha affectionately and rubbed his stomach.
“Aisha, I am hungry. Please bring me something to eat,” he requested.
Aisha responded enthusiastically.
“Brother Ahmad, what would you like me to prepare?”
“Whatever is easiest for you,” he answered with a smile.
Ummi laughed.
“Ahmad, look at Nenne and me sitting here. You did not ask either of us about food, yet she is the only person you asked,” she teased.
Ahmad scratched the back of his head.
“Ummi, it is better for her to learn how to look after me early. I am sure my Abba has already agreed to give her to me. I only do not know what Baba Bello will say,” he replied.
He turned towards Nenne.
“Nenne, I love Aisha. I love her deeply and cannot hide that love inside my heart or in my outward behaviour,” he declared.
Nenne turned her face away from her beloved son.
Ahmad loved her so deeply that she felt he was part of her heartbeat.
He moved closer, knelt before her and spoke softly.
“Nenne, I do not like how you react whenever I discuss marrying Aisha,” he complained.
Nenne gently placed a hand on the centre of his head.
“May Allah bless you and all your brothers and sisters,” she prayed.
“Ameen,” Ahmad answered happily before leaving for their section of the house.
Ahmad Finds Yusuf Studying
Ahmad found Adam and Amira talking happily in the courtyard. He offered them a brief greeting and continued inside.
In the living room, Yusuf sat on a sofa with his feet stretched across the centre table.
His laptop rested on his legs while he attended an online lecture. He wore a jalabiya, and his carefully groomed hair looked especially attractive.
A pleasant fragrance surrounded him like fresh flowers.
Ahmad and Yusuf exchanged affectionate greetings.
Yusuf looked at him.
“Biyaye, where have you been until now?” he asked.
“I returned with Abba,” Ahmad replied while removing his outer clothes. “Let me take a quick shower.”
He entered his bedroom and proceeded directly to the bathroom.
Aisha Mistakes Yusuf for Ahmad
Aisha quietly offered the Islamic greeting and placed a tray of food on the dining table.
She turned and secretly approached the person sitting on the sofa.
She believed he was Ahmad because the two young men resembled each other in almost every way, including how they styled their hair.
Aisha stopped directly behind Yusuf. She bent towards him, placed her lips near his ear and gently blew air against him.
She then ran her fingers through his soft, fragrant hair.
“I love you, Brother Ahmad,” she whispered while continuing to play with his hair.
Within a second, Yusuf realised who was touching him. He knew nobody else was capable of such recklessness.
Anger, disgust and frustration spread through his entire body. Every hair on his skin stood up.
He spun around as quickly as lightning.
When Aisha saw his face, she screamed and stepped backwards. Her eyes widened, and her entire body trembled uncontrollably.
Ahmad heard her scream from the bathroom. He quickly wrapped a towel around himself and rushed outside.
He had already suspected that Aisha might do something reckless and provoke Yusuf into making her cry.
Ahmad Protects Aisha Again
Yusuf’s hands trembled with anger.
“Come here! Are you incapable of remaining calm? I have been waiting for an opportunity to deal with you. Today, I will tear you into pieces,” he shouted.
He raised his hand to deliver one of his painful slaps.
Ahmad immediately stepped between them.
“Do not beat her. Direct your anger towards me. I am the person who asked her to bring me food,” he pleaded.
Ahmad gently separated Aisha from Yusuf.
“Go back inside, Aisha. I will see you tomorrow morning,” he instructed.
Aisha ran towards the main family house. Amira had also returned there as soon as she heard the scream.
Yusuf looked furiously at Ahmad and Adam.
“I swear you two have become unbearable. This behaviour has gone too far,” he complained.
“You are grown men, yet you allow little sisters to cling to you constantly. You will eventually make them lose all respect for you.”
Yusuf pointed towards Ahmad.
“Look at yourself, Biyaye. A man of your age rushed out wearing only a towel, with your chest completely exposed. What would have happened if that towel had fallen in front of your younger sister?”
Adam burst into laughter and made another provocative joke about Aisha already understanding what married life involved.
Ahmad remained silent while Yusuf continued scolding them. Adam deliberately made comments that increased his anger.
“I swear you should stop bringing those girls near me if you have no sense of shame. I feel ashamed on your behalf,” Yusuf declared.
“People call you elder brothers, yet you behave like useless elders.”
Sunday Morning in Mambilla
Early on Sunday morning, everyone prepared to return to their homes in Taraba after completing their weekend visit.
Adam, Yusuf, Ahmad, Aisha and the other younger family members sat around the dining table eating breakfast.
The elders sat in the main living room, discussing family matters.
Aisha and Amira served breakfast to everyone. They had served every person except Yusuf because they did not know how to approach him.
Ahmad looked at Aisha and silently instructed her with his eyes to prepare Yusuf’s tea.
Still afraid of Yusuf, Aisha collected a cup and began preparing the drink.
Her attention remained entirely fixed on him. She worried about how he might insult her or whether she might receive another slap.
Because of her fear, she accidentally added salt to the tea instead of sugar.
Yusuf Notices Aisha’s Long Fingernail
Throughout the time she prepared the tea, Yusuf stared at the long nail on the smallest finger of her left hand.
Aisha had deliberately allowed it to grow because she considered it fashionable, but Yusuf strongly disliked long fingernails.
He turned towards Sadiq, who was sitting beside him.
“Sadiq, bring me your scissors,” he ordered.
“All right,” Sadiq replied before standing.
Yusuf had also noticed that Aisha added salt instead of sugar. Nevertheless, he pulled the cup closer and took a small sip just as Sadiq returned with the scissors.
Yusuf accepted the scissors and pushed the cup towards Aisha.
“You put salt in my tea instead of sugar. Were you planning to kill me? You will drink it yourself,” he said.
He then caught her smallest finger and positioned the scissors around the long nail.
As he tried to cut it, the scissors accidentally caught the tip of her finger as well.
The Family Prepares to Leave Mambilla
Later, everyone gathered inside the living room, fully prepared for the return journey.
They sat quietly because Bappa Yaya traditionally offered advice and prayers whenever they were about to leave.
If anyone had a request, problem or instruction, this was also the time Bappa Yaya allowed them to speak.
Everyone became silent and focused their attention on him.
The Family Complains About Sadiq’s Tailoring
Sadiq entered and offered the Islamic greeting.
Aisha immediately turned towards him with an angry expression.
“Sadiq, did you bring my clothes, or have you still not sewn them? I am honestly tired of waiting,” she complained.
Amira joined her.
“She is right. You have kept some clothes for almost an entire year without sewing them,” she said.
Usman looked at Sadiq with displeasure.
“You are in serious trouble. You never fulfil your promises. You possess every terrible habit associated with unreliable tailors,” he declared.
“You love money too much. You sew clothes for young women, young men and even elderly people. You refuse to turn away any customer.”
Innayi interrupted.
“Everyone must be patient with Sadiq. I gave him my wrapper after last year’s Eid celebration and asked him to sew a pocket into it where I could keep small money and my phone. He has still not returned it,” she complained.
Rabi’u clicked his tongue so loudly that everyone turned towards him.
“Listen to her nonsense. Everyone else is discussing important clothes, yet she is talking about a simple pocket,” he said.
Everyone laughed.
Adam added, “Innayi, accept that he has probably lost your wrapper.”
“Then he must pay me for it,” she insisted.
Sadiq continued laughing.
Abdul looked at him.
“You should not be laughing. You will pay for that wrapper,” he warned.
Sadiq nodded and placed a large bag before them.
“Here are your clothes. I knew Aisha and Aunty Trouble would disturb me today. I did not sleep last night because I wanted to finish everything,” he explained.
He looked towards Usman.
“Brother Usman, your clothes are also inside.”
Bappa Yaya Offers His Blessings
Abba cleared his throat.
“Everyone should be quiet so that Bappa Yaya can pray for us,” he instructed.
Bappa Yaya gave them meaningful advice and offered his blessings. Finally, he prayed for their protection and success.
Everyone left the house and entered the waiting vehicles.
Yusuf slowly came outside and signalled for Sadiq to approach.
“Sadiq, are you genuinely concentrating on your education?” he asked with concern.
“Yes, Hamma Yusuf. I am even preparing to apply to Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria,” Sadiq answered respectfully.
“Make sure you remain focused,” Yusuf advised. “I have noticed that you are beginning to adopt behaviours I dislike because of this tailoring business.”
Yusuf continued warning him against allowing his profession or the people around him to influence his character.
After offering more advice, he joined the others, and the family began its journey.
Although they were leaving, everyone already missed one another.
Yusuf Refuses Another Mambilla Visit
Nearly three weeks passed after that visit to Mambilla.
The family continued travelling there every weekend, but Yusuf had not returned with them.
One Friday after the Asr prayer, everyone gathered inside their main living room and talked happily.
Baba Bello cleared his throat.
“Yusuf, you all know tomorrow is Saturday. Everyone should prepare early because I want us to leave at dawn,” he announced.
Yusuf pushed his cap slightly backwards.
“Hmm, Baba, I already have somewhere else to go tomorrow,” he replied.
Ummi looked at him angrily.
“What kind of person are you? You never want to interact with your relatives,” she complained.
“Everyone else eagerly waits for the opportunity to visit them except you. They speak about all of you constantly, yet you openly behave as though you do not care about them.”
Her voice rose with anger.
“That is nothing but bad behaviour and unreasonable stubbornness. I swear you are not enjoying your life.”
Nenne looked at him.
“Where are you planning to go, Yusuf?” she asked.
Yusuf frowned slightly.
“We are going to Yola. Since I returned, we have not visited, and the time for me to leave again is approaching. Goggo called yesterday and complained that we had not come,” he explained.
Adam looked at him carefully.
“I do not understand. You keep saying ‘we are going,’ but who exactly is travelling with you?” he asked.
Yusuf glared at him from the corner of his eye.
“Who do I normally travel with?” he responded.
“I am not going anywhere,” Adam declared. “Perhaps Ahmad will go with you.”
Yusuf looked at him with displeasure.
“I swear you must go. You have absolutely no affection for the state where you were born,” he insisted.
Ahmad smiled.
“Abba, tomorrow we will be travelling to Yola,” he announced.
Abba, Nenne and the others accepted the plan.
“May Allah take you there safely,” they prayed.
The Journey to Yola
As planned, they travelled to Adamawa State. Adam joined them even though he had not wanted to go.
They arrived shortly after the Zuhr prayer.
Ahmad carefully parked the vehicle inside the family compound.
Haidar and Maryam were preparing to go out, but when they noticed the visitors, they immediately rushed towards them with excitement.
Haidar collected Yusuf’s briefcase, and the two men shook hands.
Maryam ran into Adam’s arms.
“Welcome, Brother Adam! Why did you wait until today before visiting us?” she asked.
Adam kissed her forehead playfully.
“How can anyone survive the terrible heat in your city?” he teased.
Maryam laughed.
“Listen to him saying ‘your city,’ as though he does not belong here,” she complained.
She then moved into Ahmad’s arms.
After a moment, she raised her head and looked at him.
“What do you have to say, Brother Ahmad?” she asked.
Ahmad could only smile as he gently moved her away from himself.
A strange and powerful sensation had passed through his body—something he had never experienced, even when embracing Amira.
Meanwhile, Yusuf watched everyone with a disapproving glare.
Maryam slowly approached him.
“Hamma Yusuf, when did you…”
Yusuf immediately interrupted by raising his hand. His face became as stern as that of a soldier standing on a battlefield.
Maryam instantly lost her confidence and became silent.
Baba Umar Forces Yusuf to Eat
After everyone exchanged greetings, Goggo placed plenty of food before the visitors.
They ate and continued talking. Yusuf appeared slightly more relaxed than usual, although he refused to eat.
When Baba Umar returned, he took the young men into his private living room. They talked for a long time while he offered them fatherly advice.
Baba Umar looked at them affectionately.
“Ahmad, have all of you eaten?” he asked.
“Alhamdulillah, Baba, the rest of us have eaten. However, Biyaye refused,” Ahmad replied, pointing towards Yusuf.
“All right,” Baba Umar said.
He called Maryam and instructed her to bring food.
Baba Umar personally served Yusuf and placed the food before him.
“Eat this quickly. I dislike your habit of remaining hungry,” he ordered.
With considerable persuasion, Yusuf ate a small amount.
He then looked towards Goggo.
“Goggo, do you have slightly chilled nono?” he asked.
Goggo laughed and brought him a bowl of very cold fermented milk.
Only then did Yusuf eat more comfortably.
They spent the rest of the day talking together. The following morning, they visited relatives from Adam’s father’s side of the family.
After the Zuhr prayer, they began their return journey to Jalingo.
